Listening Posts are regular meetings that take a snapshot of society at a particular moment in time.
“History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme” (Mark Twain).
Exposed to the swirl and clatter of events, local, national and international, our unconscious minds weave patterns of meaning. We might experience distress at events in Gaza and Ukraine, anxiety about forthcoming elections in the United States and Australia, curiosity about the rise of right-wing parties in Europe. We might be pessimistic about the prospect of younger family members wanting to own a home, and invest hope in political parties offering a solution. We can certainly be curious about the way these issues operate within ourselves and within our social relationships.
Listening Posts are regular meetings that take a snapshot of society at a particular moment in time. They explore the idea that a small group, when studying the behaviour of the wider social system that is society, will unconsciously express some of the characteristics of society and that these are discernible from the themes and patterns emerging from the discussion.
